CR BURGAN
Who Is CR Burgan
"The blues are the roots and the other musics are the fruits. It's better keeping the roots alive, because it means better fruits from now on. The blues are the roots of all American music. As long as American music survives, so will the blues."
-Willie Dixon
My first instrument was a child-size corn broom, upon which I honed my “broom” guitar skills, while strumming along to The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits – a vinyl LP record album that all of the members of my class had been given as a gift at our kindergarten Christmas party.
. . . And so it began
Later in elementary school I graduated to clarinet, alto saxophone and baritone saxophone, playing in school concert & jazz bands through middle school. These wind instruments served me well, that is, until I bought Kiss Alive and decided to follow in Gene Simmons’ footsteps, taking up the electric bass guitar.
Over four decades later I remain primarily an electric bass guitarist, as well as lead singer, songwriter and bandleader. While my original musical schooling may have been in the genre of what is now called Classic Rock, the styles of music that I love to play are varied and include jazz, blues, R&B, soul, country and Americana.
